Blakely was born and raised in Houston, TX where she began to know art at a very young age. From her elementary school days to high school, you would find her taking classes at the Glassell School of Art or Art League Houston. Blakely continued her passion for art when she attended the University of Texas at Austin. She received her Bachelors of Art in Studio Art with a focus in Painting and Drawing, along with a minor in Business.
Today, she resides in Houston, TX, where she pursues a career in Fine Art. Currently, she creates abstract oil paintings and watercolors, particularly focusing on the structure and form of flowers. Her work has been featured in countless of homes, restaurants and trade/antique shows around Texas.
In her most recent work, Blakely is interested in simplifying objects, places and colors we see in everyday life, in order to show that beauty can be undemanding and uncomplicated. With her oil floral paintings, she capture the structure of flowers through the simplest of brushstrokes and color. With her watercolors, she focuses on capturing a flower's shape and structure with just one line. With her Untitled pieces, she transforms an ethereal, textured background into a structured, more defined space with the addition of few lines and single brushstrokes.
